In class room’s electric equipment’s like, fans, lights are running, even if there is no people. In some cases, those areas which are unfilled those electric equipment’s are running meaninglessly. This is because, every time manually turning on and off in accordance with the arrival of people, is an uncomfortable task.
We propose an automated system for power management to solve the problem of electricity wastage when people leave rooms without switching off the fans and lights.
The camera will capturing the images after every 5 minutes,capture image will send the information to the server, whether there is any object is present or not.If it detect the object then the information will send to the data for switching the appliances (light and fan).
The communication between HC-05 Bluetooth Module and Android Mobile takes place through wireless Bluetooth technology. And the communication between HC-05 Bluetooth Module and ATmega16 micro-controller takes place through UART serial communication protocol. The HC-05 Bluetooth Module and Android Mobile are connected through Bluetooth. User enters the control signal from Android Mobile through Bluetooth Terminal App and the Android Mobile transmits the control signal to the HC-05 Bluetooth Module through its Bluetooth. The HC-05 Bluetooth Module receives the control signal and transmits it to the ATmega16 micro-controller through UART.
The ATmega16 microcontroller receives the control signal and processes it and sends the required control signal to the Relay Driver. Relay Driver will turn On or Off the home appliances according the control signal received from the ATmega16 microcontroller. The ATmega16 microcontroller also sends the appliance status to the Android Mobile through bluetooth.
Here, we will use 2 keys from the Android Mobile to control one appliance. One key will be used to turn on and the other key will be used to turn off the appliance. So, for four appliances, we will use 8 keys from Android Mobile. Apart from these 8 keys, we will use 2 more keys to turn on and off all appliances at a time. Now, press different keys from the Android Mobile and control the appliances as you want.
Circuit and working
The circuit is built around avr board, Bluetooth module HC-05 and a 4-channel relay board. The number of channels depends on the number of appliances you wish to control. avr is powered with a 5V DC adaptor/power source. The relay module and Bluetooth module can be, in turn, powered using a board power supply of avr. Author’s prototype is shown in Fig. 1. Connection details for each appliance are shown in Fig. 2.
Bluetooth module used in this project is HC-05 (Fig. 4), which supports master and slave mode serial communication (9600-115200 bps) SPP and UART interface. Using these features it can communicate with other Bluetooth-enabled devices like mobile phones, tablets and laptops. The module runs on 3.3V to 5V power supply.
